FAQs
Can I wear a costume? Absolutely. You can also just come as yourself. The goal
here is just to have a great time and help bring smiles to kids. Last year, PPA Charities
gave over $100,000 to Operation Smile. This funded over 400 surgeries for children
with cleft palate. Additionally, they gave $21,000 to Dando Amour which supports
orphanages in African and South American countries. If you decide to dress up or not,
just know that because you are participating, someone’s life will be changed.
Where does the 5K start? The 5K Fun Run starts and ends near the common area between the Omni International Ballroom entrance and the GWCC.
Where is packet pick-up? Participants have two options: They may pick up their
packet early on Friday, January 8th or on Saturday, January 9th at the registration area for the pre-convention classes at Imaging USA. You can also pick up your packet on Saturday evening at PPA Charities’ “Cooking It Up with PPA” Celebration Event or Sunday, January 10 at 6:30am at the starting line in the common area between the Omni International Ballroom entrance and GWCC.
How does the virtual run work? We all want to be a part of something bigger than
ourselves. PPA Charities allows us to do that by directly transforming the lives of those
in need of a smile. If you can’t join the party in Atlanta on January 10th, you can join
us in spirit through the virtual run. All you have to do is promise that you are going to do
a 5K. How you do it is up to you. To celebrate your commitment to the children, we will
send you your packet in the mail during the week of January 18th. Your packet will
include a fabulous t-shirt, a shiny medal and a commemorative PPA Charities
Superhero for Smiles Runner Bib. You can display this with pride knowing that you
went beyond yourself to transform someone’s life.
How can I do more? You can help support the race by becoming one of the
underwriting sponsors. For as little as $240, you can fund a surgery for a child with a
cleft palate. As a “thank you” your name will appear on the race shirt and you will
receive a certificate to display testifying to your commitment to changing lives. You can
also directly support PPA Charities by going to the Donate Now button at ppacharities.com.
Can I register at Imaging USA or at the 5K event? On-site registration will be
available during packet pick-up hours on January 8th and 9th. Registration will also
be available at 6:30am on Sunday, January 110th in the common area between the Omni International Ballroom entrance and the GWCC. The $45 rate will apply.
Free Pictures? Did I hear that right? PPA Charities is the philanthropic arm of the
largest non-profit association for professional photographers, PPA. Naturally, we would want you to have some amazing images to commemorate this day. Finish line photos will be available online after the event for free download at the PPA Charities page.
Is this a timed race? This a 5K fun run. The course is measured, but there will not be
timing chips or official timing methods used. We WILL have special medals for the first
three males and females to cross the finish line.
